Deleted Photos still show as Thimbnails

I am sorry I do not have enough computer knowledge to follow this explaination - I will not be messing with any registry files - I know enough to know that is a big No! No!
It is a pity that there is no way of asking Microsoft about the problem with their software

Thumbnails of deleted phots remain

Answerer To clifford- cooly
I would not know hoe to do this - and I would be frightened about making things worse
At the moment every thing else works OK and I would not want to be in a position where the ability to down load and edit photos was lost alto gether
It is an irritation but does not stop the general function of the application.

That has nothing to do with the registry on your part anyway.

Look under "Control Panel >> All Control Panel Items >>Programs and Features"
Then select "Turn Windows features on or off"
Scroll to "Media Features" and uncheck

Reboot then do the steps again, this time placing the check back.

I don't know what else to tell you past these steps.

Happy new year 1
It has been 2010 here for 11 hours but I guess only about 8 with you !
Well! part sucess theMedia Center folder has lost its blanks
But the thumbnails still appear in > Media Player > all pictures

I think I might just turn off the media player - now you have shown me how to:) and just use Picasa as my Photo handling program
