I am unable to find the Drivers for the following devices listed:
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communications Controller

When I try to install the Vista Drivers, I get an error that the file could not copy and will exit.

Has anyone found the two drivers that will work with Windows 7 Ultimate?

Hi cwalter - Welcome to the site :ciao:

1) - Can you tell us your computer's model - Which computer do you have?
2) - You said you tried Vista drivers. - Was this from the computer manufacturer's download site?
3) - Windows can detect your hardware. - Have you run Windows update?
4) - Seems to me both could be linked to a Modem? - Do you have a Modem installed in your computer? - If so there are numbers which can help in finding a driver stamped on the card.

The compjuter model is a Dell Optiplex 960 Desktop
I tried the Vista drivers from the Dell Website
Windows Update does not detect the drivers
There is no Modem on the Desktop

When I went to Dell Forums, it is stated that these particular devices need the following drivers:
Intel drivers AMT HECI and AMT SOL/LMS.

I tried installing for Vista, but they error out.

Did the drivers come with an application installer, or just a a folder with .inf and .dll files which you can point W7 to?

Wow - duh!! I never thought of doing it manually. It worked! Thanks so much!

When you download the drivers from dell, it automatically runs the installer. I guess I never thought about the manual install. I feel so stupid!

Thanks again!!

jcolec563, this is a very old thread.

The drivers are third party and you need to get them from your equipment manufacturer, in your case, Dell

My problem is that none of the Dell-related downloads seem to work. Been there - downloaded / installed - no joy. The drivers never seem to install properly. Any other ideas?

Well it could be something wrong with your registry.

I guess first you should try uninstalling them and see if you can install after that ...

and if not I would consider backing up all your data to an external drive and then completely reinstalling w7.
