You will need to use web based forums to get best up-to-date advise from
this link:

<http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w8itprogeneral/threads>

Of course, you ne4ed to login using the live, hotmail or MSN account to
get direct response to your mail box.

Good luck.

As you are using Agent 7 just type Windows 8 into the newsgroup
directory search. That assumes that you have downloaded the directory
and kept it updated.

Or get a copy of the bridge from http://communitybridge.codeplex.com/
so you can continue to use Usenet for the group

And regret it forever when it doesn't work as a proper newsgroup. I
have never found it useful in Windows XP and in Windows 7 I decided not
to bother with it.

It is the worst piece of garbage ever released by Microsoft Engineers;
It is not officially supported by Microsoft.

Your view is very different from mine. It works fine here. I am *much*
more productive using it instead of the web-based forums.

Unfortunately, the name contains windows-8, i.e. a hyphen instead of a
blank (it can't have a blank).

Don't know about Agent, which might be smarter than Dialog, but in
Dialog, searching on windows 8 fails, and searching on windows yields
about two million newsgroups (yes, I'm exaggerating!).

Agent 2.0 and Newsleecher 4 both allow me to search for "windows-8"
and find the group.

I agree the Bridge (when used for the MSFT Answers forums) can be temperamental and cause thread continuity confusion and
contribute to redundant responses as if the response was done purely for post count vs. being intended for support.

As far as released by MSFT...it's not. The Bridge is Open Source released.

Interesting
- Searching Eternal September's server for Windows 8 (i.e. two strings [Windows and 8] separated by a space) yields the newsgroup
as the first selectable item when using WLM.

Yes, of course. It's "windows 8" (note the blank, or space, if you
prefer to call it that) that fails...

This may be the first positive point for WLM.

If you look at web site, it's not the Microsoft product I was
suggesting.

I am using Agent and it does find the group without using the blank

Do you mean you search on "windows-8", or do you mean you search on
"windows8"?

Neither. Using Agent 7 if I type Windows 8 into the Newsgroup
Directory search box it finds 13 newsgroups including
alt.comp.os.windows-8

Oh. I had thought that by "without using the blank" you meant "without
using the blank" :)

But actually, thanks. You seem to have shown that that Agent is smarter
than Dialog in that respect.

I guess the results depend on your newsgroup provider. I do that on
Agent 6 and get zilch.0
