now that program is all but disbanded.

No, not so. MS dropped its newsgroup support and moved to web forums,
so MVPs are primarily on those forums. Some current and many ex MVPs
(like me) still hang out on Usenet.

I don't how good or bad it is as a news reader, but it certainly is
horrible as a news writer ... and that is inflicted on everyone, not
just the WLM user.

My normal point of view on comparing one program with another that
does similar things is that we all work in different ways, so what's
best for one of us isn't best for all of us; so we should each make
our own choice, not use what someone else likes best.

But in the case of Windows Live Mail, I agree with you!
