Hi cataloochee.
I just had the same exact thing happen to me several times for no apparent reason. I ran a quick scan with my internet security suite and all it turned up was several tracking cookies, so I had my security suite delete the tracking cookies and the "IE has stopped working" message has ceased. IE appears to be working fine now.
Run a scan with your security software and see what it turns up. If nothing else, try deleting your cookies and temporary internet files and see if that helps.

Seems odd that 2 of us have experienced the same exact issue in IE within a few hours.

Has anyone else has ran into the same issue?

I want to reinstall E8 because I can't find it. I can't find it in View Updates. It's there in Vista, but I'm not running vista. This error is as bad as that "comcast_search" which I finnaly got rid of.:) The present method for elimating "Internet Stopped Working" is too reinstall E8. I would like to try E9 but i don't want to loose anything. Any he.lp would be appreciated

Not hardly. There are 100s of millions of IE users.

There are many things that can cause a browser to crash. Malware, a bad connection anywhere from your network interface on out. But most problems with IE8 and IE9 are due to a misbehaving or conflicting add-ons - like tool bars, or a bad setting.

If you click on the Start orb, then start typing Internet Explorer in the search box, you should see Internet Explorer (No add-ons) appear. Try that. Or better yet, reset IE by going to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and click on Reset then see what happens.

Do make sure Windows is fully updated too.

IE9 is the most current, most secure, and fastest. But only works with Vista or Windows 7.

Digerati is a nickname my colonel gave me almost 20 years ago after I fixed the General's computer problem - again.

It is an actual word, as seen here.

Digerati, thank you for that digerati word, I saved it. Thought I had solved the "Internet Explorer stops working!" with that 64-bit E7 brower, but it failed. I will continue onward in my search and now appyling Holy Water over the computer as a last resort.. Cataloocheet

There is no E7 browser. There is Internet Explorer 7 or IE7. IE8 is the most current for XP, and IE9 (Internet Explorer 9) for Vista and Windows 7.

OOPS! That "Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working" message reappeared tonight. But IE9 isn't crashing, I just get the message. Don't know what's doing it.

IE9 has excellent "Crash Recovery" enabled by default and so it may be crashing and recovering without you knowing it.

If it continues, please start your own thread with the problem.

i like ie9 over the others. has very good security to it. i play online games at club pogo, with ie9 i now know who has to use auto cheats to play the games for them. those that use cheat programs cause cross script error, and cause java runtime error.
plus ie9 will show you whats slowing down your browsr and ask what you want to disable. mine is up in .03 seconds

Yeah, you certainly cannot use security as an excuse to bash IE any more, especially since vulnerabilities in the major alternatives keep showing up.

It is now just a matter of personal preference with "look and feel" because regardless which browser you use, you still must keep Windows updated, use a firewall, a current anti-malware solution, and avoid risky practices.

Cataloochee, change to Chrome as browser to open MSN and don't use Xfinity Toolbar to open Comcast mail or you will get that Zimlet error,. Google has tendency to make Cursor skip.
