Help with BSOD related to video card?

Hey all, I've been having some serious trouble with my computer and CTD's and BSOD's related to what im fairly certain is something to do with my graphics card.

Long story short I've had repeated Service Exception BSOD'd for the past 2-3 weeks. In that amount of time I've run memtest to see if maybe my memory was to blame but that turned up nothing. I used driver sweeper to remove my nvidia drivers and put a fresh install on, and yet it still crashes.

I'm at my wits end here, normally its simply a matter of bad memory or a bad driver, but with this I have no clue what to do.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I've included the dump file from the most recent crash and my system info as well.

EDIT: I know the more information the better so I'll give some examples of when something will CTD or Blue Screen.
Rendering videos with Sony Vegas - No CTD's
Using photoshop - No CTD's
Browsing the web - No CTD's
Watching High Definition Video - No CTD's
Playing Team Fortress 2 - No CTD's, some weird graphical glitches though have started appearing.
Left4dead 2 - CTD's and Blue Screens oh my.
League of Legends - CTD's
Mass Effect - CTD's and sometimes blue screens.

Another Edit:

Hey. Ya, you're getting 0x3B errors related to the video.

I noticed you already have the latest driver or very recent, so that's not the problem.

First, I'd visit my motherboard's website and install the latest chipset/lan/audio/storage drivers. If that doesn't help, install the latest bios.

Very important too:

Update your Razer mouse driver to latest from their website:

Code:
dadder dadder.sys Thu Aug 02 05:33:03 2007
These are older and I believe related to chipset as I was saying. You could visit NVIDIA's site most likely for this too, depending on your nForce version (5 or later.)
Code:
nvflsh64 nvflsh64.sys Fri Aug 01 14:08:23 2008
nvoclk64 nvoclk64.sys Mon Aug 18 12:00:01 2008
If none of this helped, go into C:\Windows\System32\drivers

and rename adfs.SYS to adfs.bak

then reboot.

It could also be a heat related issue so use an overclocking utility to raise the fan speed to max while playing. Or run with a room fan blowing in on the open case to test if it crashes like this.

I've given you quite a few leads to go on. Check em out and let us know how it goes. If you still run into problems, post a new crash dump and we can have another look. In this case, then also completely uninstall your antivirus as another test. Disabling only, will not help.

Good luck.

Alright I'll check those out

Thanks for the reply.

I just updated my mobo driver and my mouse driver, I'll see if that helps anything.

So once again I've been fine for a while, however the problem has once again reared its ugly head.

BSOD'd again while playing League of Legends.

Posting my new dump.

Hmmm... i just ran a driver update and it says that everything is fine, if someone could debug my newest dump file to help it would be really appreciated.

Hey, I just had a look. It seems that dadder.sys is still the same version and hasn't been updated. Same for the others I'd mentioned.

Thats strange because I downloaded and installed the new Death Adder drivers when I installed my new mobo drivers.

Hi Abortedman

Are you absolutely certain that is a new dump?

Clear the contents of the dump folder and then post a new dump after the next crash.

Well this is embarrassing, it seems I zipped up the wrong dump file last time.

There we go, here is the latest dump file that I meant to attach last time.

I haven't run anything in 3d since then so no crashes thus far.

maybe my graphics card is just dying on me?

Tried to play some league of legends artifacts started popping up everywhere before the game CTD'd.

Anyway to test if its my card itself?

ugggghh more stuff.

Went to change some BIOS settings for fans... go to turn on the computer and turn it back on and then... nothing. Just black.

So I remove and reinstall my BIOS battery to reset it.

Then after 4-5 restarts I finally get the computer running windows... I leave it up not touching it for 20 mins, and then POOF it BSOD's.

and thus a new crash dump. Don't worry about the date on it i made sure this is the newest one my clock was just reset with the flash.

And on another note my notification area has blank icons now which exist for no purpose other than to mock my lack of icons!

What you can do is go into the bios and enable the onboard video. Power off the machine and then remove the video card and attach the monitor to the onboard port instead.

Run like this to see if you still get the 0x3b error. If not, then there may be something wrong with the video card.

hi there
is this a new video card ?
what is it ?
did you up date your PSU
many cards need a min of 26A on a sigle 12V rail and up to 800w power out put

so seeing that you only get the card to run for 20 mins or so I think you should be looking at the PSU ,if your in the UK look to get a new one for around £100 DONT GO CHEAP ON THE PSU !!

Alright I got my icons all back and stuff.
Video card is a year old, a 9800GTX+
My PSU is 530 watt, but all this has worked before, it just started popping up recently. I'm not sure why.
Nothing has been updates for about 8 months and it was all working smoothly before.

It's only with certain games too. Team fortress 2 all settings high = no crashes, but a very low intensive game like League of Legends causes it to crash.

have a look on the side of the PSU at the amps you have , 530 watts this the max if your PSU this NOT 80% plus then it is on its way out and you need to be at 650w and 30a for this card under load it will use 300w its not so much the watts but the amps if you have 18a the card will try to pull 30a and the volts will drop and the card will crash
this will help

some thing like this will fix it
http://www.corsair.com/products/tx/default.aspx

ps try this http://www.corsair.com/psufinder/default.aspx

I put a new video card on my system and had random crashes with my more intense video games. New card was making my CPU work harder to keep up with it. New CPU cooler and better thermal paste and BSOD went away.

I agree with the exception of this quote
its not so much the watts but the amps
You can not separate these two terms when Wattage is the product of Volts times Amps.

Every power supply is divided into sections. Each section has it's own power ratings. If you surpass any of the power ratings you are chancing a power failure. It just so happens that the power ratings for each section is listed in Amps and not Watts. If you figure the wattages of each section, you will find that the sum of each section will total the Max Wattage of the supply.

A +12V rail rated at 23Amps has a wattage rating of 276W(Theoretical without being listed). If you increase the load of this rail, drawing more than 23Amps and exceeding 276W's then yes the Voltage could drop as well as over heating the components in the power supply. It doesn't matter what the Max wattage of the power supply is, you can not exceed the power specifications of each section within the supply.

...so the crashing could be the result of my CPU not being able to keep up with my graphics card? My CPU is an AMD 6000+.

Should I just keep a temperature check on my cpu and gpu when i'm playing to see if its either my cpu or my gpu?

Anyone know the acceptable levels for either?
