Forget, for a moment, what you are trying to do with Word. Now pretend
you just turned your PC on, it has finished booting and you are about to
run your first program. You want to send an e-mail. Please tell us,
step by step, what program(s) you run, what selections/entries you make in
the program(s) and whether you visit a website.
Well in this case I received an e-mail with an attachment which is a 'Match
Report Card' which I shall complete in due course and return. It is in type
Microsoft Office Word 97-2003 Document form. It opens in Word and I
partially filled it in and attempted to send it to myself via Word 2007 File
Send > e-mail to see if it would work and it did not. It showed the
errors which I have described. No website or other programs was involved.

That's not what Graham asked. He didn't ask how you modified a document
in Word and then attempted to use its integration function to an e-mail
client to send that document to whatever is the e-mail handler/server.
He asked how you would open your e-mail client.

In addition to how you load your e-mail client, see what happens when
you use it to send an e-mail using every account that you have defined
in that e-mail client.

I boot-up and press the WLM icon on the taskbar and it opens quite promptly.
I use news.individual.net (Default Account) for newgroups and Lineone
(Default Account) for Mail. Both accounts work well.

This works now. I have been fiddling about doing what was suggested and am
happy to say that all is now well. Thanks a lot to everyone.

Do you delight in torturing us by "accidentally" erasing the last 10
minutes of the movie? So what did you do to fix the problem? Inquiring
minds would like to know. It adds to our experiencebase.

I think that this was the remedy: When I go to File > Send > E-Mail in
Microsoft Office Word 2007, in order to send a document, I need to hold the
cursor on E-Mail for a second or two in order to get it to function.
Otherwise I get the error message.

Makes it look like Word has a defect and it's not a problem in WLM.
