SOLVED Asobe Acrobat X scanning issue

Hi all.

I have recently had issues with Adobe Acrobat X pro when scanning documents into pdf. Final stages of the scan when the program is processing the image - the screen goes all opaque and then I am notified that the program had to close. There have been no issues in the past. Nothing much has been reported on the Adobe website forums about this, haven't installed any new apps recently.

I have reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro checked for updates, have checked for updates on the flatbed scanner, W7 64bit is up to date. Still no change.

Any suggestions as to what might be going on or where to go to from here?

(Did a couple of searches on this forum to see if anyone had raised this issue in past.)
