Animated Gif files not animated in W7

In XP when I clicked on a saved animated Gif, it showed the animation in
Preview.
In Windows 7 this doesn't happen, the Gif is static.

Am I having a senior moment?

Is there a secret to getting those Gifs to move as they used to?

Thanks for confirming that.
I haven't the faintest idea how to cure it :-(

I think they were disabled in Vista - I seem to remember something about
them being a security risk.

I was thinking that's why Html don't show as Thumbs and images are missing
in the preview.

Hmm, looks like a step backwards.
I'll have to keep the laptop using XP!

I've Googled a bit and it's the Active Desktop that was deemed a security
risk, and
animated gifs were collateral damage!

Ooh boy, that's was a slanging match and a half!
They didn't resolve it.
I wonder what the 'third party' program was.

I like making animated birthday greetings, they're a lot of work, but fun to
do.
Perhaps Microsoft don't agree with people using their computers for fun.
I now have a folder full of static Gifs, grr.

I'd better get Goggling too.
Thanks Dave.

Oh sure, but it means opening the program every time I want to check out
something, seems a step backwards.
Hmpff, just my luck :)

Have now installed Irfanview and the Gifs move!
Then went back for a zillion extras, that should keep me out of mischief for
half an hour!
Thanks Philo :)

You are welcome.

IrFanView is one piece of freeware that I liked so much I actually sent
Irfan a small payment.

I do quite a bit of photo editing and it's done a great job for me...
a lot easier to use than Photoshop (which has 100 more features than I need)

Animated GIF is viewable using IE or any internet browser in Windows 7. Like how GIFs are rendered using photoshop by "Save for Web & Devices" meaning an internet browser for that matter.

Right click your GIFs go to properties and change "Open with:" to Internet Explorer or your desired internet browser.

I don't know why Windows Photo Viewer is not installed on my system so I figured.
