Alternative to Win7 Explorer--Yet Again

<snip>

Windows Explorer is NOT a file manager. It is a torture device
whose primary function is to prevent a new computer user from
understanding the basic principles of file and directory
organization, to keep him/her as ignorant as possible, and to
allow only the most basic of functions, the execution of which
is designed to be as troublesome as possible.

Anyone using WE when tools like this (this is NOT the only one,
but it IS the best one) is insane or just stupid.

This program runs forever in fully operational trial mode (you
just have to press one of 3 buttons). Or you can just buy it,
it's not expensive, and it will make you wonder how you lived
without it. The amount of standard built-in functions is
astounding, and the plugins etc which are also available, all
free, is incredible.

Like I said, there are many others, many of them free, but this
is IT.
Do calm down. Some of us manage to use Windows Explorer with relatively
little trauma.

It's a classic case of YMMV.

Don't worry, thanatoid is happiest when he's very sure of something most
people don't agree with him about.

I too have found WE no great problem; I found how it showed me things in
7 rather odd, but that's because of the way 7 does things, not WE
itself. (thanatoid will have a fit though. I wonder why he's here in
this NG!)

Indeed.

Well, there are many people who don't know what Win-M does, or
Alt/Tab. I imagine those people just LOVE IE.

Again, with /slight/ corrections:

Assuming you have an IQ of above 85, you will find that Windows
Explorer is NOT a file manager. It is a torture device whose
primary function is to prevent a new computer user from
understanding the basic principles of file and directory
organization, to keep him/her as ignorant as possible, and to
allow only the most basic of functions, the execution of which

Of course, it may never occur to some people that making a new
directory (excuse me, folder), or copying things with one
keyboard click would EVER be necessary. Those should stick to WE
and to watching Fox News.

Instead, all [Rhino's compilation] "Total" does is to reinforce
the idea that Joy Division/New Order was a hugely exciting
source of music between 1978 and 1990 and New Order has been a
pitiful shadow of their once-visionary selves ever since.

IME, there are an awful lot of people to whom it just never occurs to
make a new directory/folder, full stop.

(By the way - nice to see you here, but - since you said you haven't
seen what WE is like under 7, I presume you don't have 7 - so, why are
you here?)

As you also seem to know, thanatoid shows up here from time to time for
a little while. But maybe I'm mixed up. It might have been another NG.
IIRC, it's been a few months since I've seen his posts, long enough for
me to lose track which NG it was most recently.

I posted the above reply with no real hope, just in case he might listen
:)

I'm now about read his reply that I see in my header list window below
your reply.

There's no place trolls don't go, I do believe Thanatoad deserves
credit for being one reason (if not the main reason) that killfiles
were invented! <G>

thanatoid

Because they are imbeciles and prefer a single root tree 500
entries long, which is what they will end up with sooner or
later unless they learn what file management is. And they will
NOT learn it with WE.

(BTW, it is not necessary to spell out full stop, putting a
period there is enough.)

See previous post.

Calling people who are smarter than yourself and have their own
opinions on things (rather than sheepishly following what MS and
FoxNews tells them to do) trolls is one of the instant ID marks
of the true cretin.

Nice to meet you, cretin.

Why don't you shut up, get on your motorbike and pretend you're
a bad boy from the 60's once again. Try to hide your paunch and
liver sports.

It's thanatoid, BTW, cretin.

See? WE is for people who write English like that sentence.
Perhaps someone could translate. (You might have to ask someone
in another group.)

That was hilarious! And not OT in this instance, I'd say. But then, I'm
a bit of a nut case. (That was one of the funniest, but they were all 9s
and 10s).

Thanks.
