Your screen shot is normal, and yes your system is accessing all 6 gig of your ram. You will notice that Internet Explorer reports that only 2 gig is usable, this is normal for the 32 bit version. Win 7 64 bit has both 32 and 64 bit versions of IE.

seeing how I had to push the card with some force I can't see how it could have been dislodged in transit.

It probably never got dislodged in transit, that was done when they assembled it. The assembler didn't make sure the stick was fully locked in place.

It's happened to me before like I said. It's one of those things where one must do a double-check and sometimes a triple-check to be sure.
