Windows could not update registry data in the installation

I'm trying to UPGRADE from Windows Vista to Windows 7 (both ultimate edition). I get to the point that it appears like Windows 7 has installed, but then after some period of time elapses a error pops up specifying that:

Windows could not update registry data in the installation.

Vista is rolled back.

Anyone know what I need to do?
