SP1 and System Restore points

I hadn't until you mentioned it - but you're quite correct, the earliest is
the one before SP1 installed.

In case you didn't notice it before, ALL Service Pack installations for all
versions of Windows have done that.

Do you know why?

No, but I can make a good guess - once the SP is applied, the previous
restore points would no longer reinstall, and would almost certainly crash
the system big time.

I would think that MS dont want you to go back to an earlier point
