As you seem to be aware, I did the French and the "translation" just for
fun...

Harp and Smithwick are both Irish beers.
I'll check them out as soon as I get to the beer store close to where I
live. They have all sorts of beer there.
But, as you also are aware,
imported beers here aren't the same as in the country of origin.
Yeah, unfortunately that's true.
Makes
me want to visit Ireland. That's not the only reason :)
You're not going to tell me that the other reason is Whisky :)
Don't forget the Scottish malts. They are gorgeous.
So tell me - should I have marked this post off-topic? ;-)
Well, slightly off-topic then :)
When I run into a heavy computer problem, I take a step back, take a whisky
and think about the whole thing again.
If I still can't solve it, I'll post it here or in another usenet group.

I rarely drink whisky; no particular reason. But I recall before
retirement, my last job had some difficult problems of software failures
in the field to solve. Sometimes I was completely unable to see what to
do, but then it became time to go to the restroom (as one must from time
to time), and an answer would come into my head while I was standing in
front of the place one stands in front of.

I liked to ascribe it to what I was doing in the restroom, but of
course, it was really a result of freeing my brain from the stress of
the moment.

I'm playing with writing simple Android programs[1] at this time, and
when I get stuck, my inspirations tend to come in the middle of the
night, when I wake up for a little while.

[1] I have come to believe that there is no such thing as a simple
Android program :)

I needed more time to solve my problems. The time in the restroom was too
short for that.

That's the point indeed. Freeing your mind. Sometimes I used to do something
completely different, or running for 10 kilometers.

I'm way behind on that area. Still have a cell phone (that's how you call a
mobile phone?).
But within the next half year there will be a smart phone. An Android,
definitely.
Then I will recognize your struggle with Android programs :)

FYI, "cell phone" and "mobile phone" are synonyms, at least among the
people I talk to. Sometimes people around here just say "cell". You
might even hear "what's your cell number" or "my mobile number is xxxx".

"Smart phone" refers to the subset of phones that can brew Belgian beer
and so forth, but nobody seems to say "my smart phone number is xxxx".

Every once in a while, I use my cell phone to make a phone call, but not
often.

I already thought so.

I wish it could.
But as long as there is no app Belgian Beer Generator, I'll get them from
the local store.

For me the same. To be honest, I don't even sent a SMS. I sent them from my
PC with Skype.

But smartphones are the future. If you don't have one, you'll get way
behind. Thst's what I believe. I want to have such a thing to find out what
it is, what it can do and what it can't, and to learn more about Android.
Read a lot about it, but I want to know what is is in real life.

Good idea.
Yes, there was a screensaver. Kicks in after 10 minutes. The laptop went
back to the Windows 7 login screen within a few minutes, but I disabled the
XP screensaver. And - ofcourse - no login after resume.
Now I type this, the laptop goes back to the Windows 7 login screen :-(

Fokke

Turn the Win7 screen saver on and set it for a long interval of
inactivity before it requires logging back in. The interval of
inactivity of course is dependent on your habits.

Thanks, John.

But the problem has already been solved. The problem was that the VMWare was
running as a service, due to the use of Firedaemon. It was obviously running
in its own space and Windows 7 kept returning to the login screen. It got
nothing to do with screensaver issues.
When I had VMWare running as a normal program, the problem was over.
