Just FYI there are Enterprise tools that will re-image machines with different hardware.

I'm not sure if you can use the Windows 7 built-in tools to do with, but you can definitely restore a image from one computer to another computer without problems. You just need to run sysprep or delete all the system devices before you make the image. I did it hundreds of times at work with Acronis.
