I have an HP Pavilion dv5 with a Synaptics keypad. The keypad has stopped functioning all together. Touching it will produce no results at all.

I have done the following with no fx
1. Touched the upper left hand corner for 5 or more seconds
2. Ugraded the keypad driver by downloading the current driver from Synaptics

I currently have driver version 15.1.6.64 with me a Device Settings tab on the
Mouse section of my control panel. However the device settings tab is totally
BLANK and all grayed out even though on the 'harware' tab of the mouse panel
does see they Synaptics keypad a existing.

When I upgraded to the 15.2.xx driver and installed it the Device Settings tab
of the DISAPPEARED!

I also checked my BIOS and find nothing related to the keypad.

I am running Windows7 64 bit with 4 gig of memory.

Any help would be appeciated.

Did it stop working all of a sudden? Does Fn + F7 re-enable the touchpad (or perhaps another F button? It's the touchpad toggle button on some laptops).

If that doesn't work, can you try uninstalling your touchpad drivers and the Synaptics software and then let Windows 7 install it's own touchpad drivers once you've rebooted.

Ok. I uninstalled the synaptics drivers. Then rebooted several times as Windows
installed its own drivers.

No luck. Still no keypad. And yes the keypad was always working, although I
almost never use it, I use a mouse instead.

I have no "F' functi key to turn it on/off thatI know of, and the the user guide does not
indicate any otherway than holding down the upper left portion of the keypad.
Doing so does NOT enable it.
