I think you might get better help by searching on Quickbooks 5
windows 7.
His best bet would be to buy a new copy of QBs. Or even a 2010 copy.

You are, at this point, not talking about Windows 7, or XP Mode. You are
talking about QB 5, and I'll bet not one person here is using QB 5 in XP
Mode.

Or totally change his system, download GNUCash for free, and import all
his QB data into it.
