'This folder is empty' when it's NOT

I didn't run another test before posting this, but I'm sure I remember that
opening multiple instances of Win Explorer doesn't avoid the issue. Great
guess, though.

In a folder containing multiple large-ish files, select half of them and
start moving them to another folder. Immediately select the other half and
then watch what happens. For me, every time a file move is complete, the
view refreshes, which means that my selection of "the other half" becomes a
selection of one.
Ok, I see the problem (i.e., non-problem!).

When I copy or move, I most often wait for it to finish. If I still
smoked, it would be a fine opportunity to have a cigarette :)

Instead of working in that window, I'll typically do something like go
to the browser or open another Explorer window & do something other file
system task. So quite by accident or accidental habit, I've been
saved...

Ever since I got my first Amiga computer all those years ago, I've found
that I can't stand to do one thing at a time, within my definition of one
thing at a time. So your approach would bug me silly. :)

There are those who say I'm already silly, so what the heck...

Over the years of working as a programmer, there were numerous times
when I had to sit for a long time to wait for some process to complete,
especially back when a 1 microsecond cycle time was considered
reasonably fast. It got to be a sort of meditation for me, although I
too am in many ways impatient.

Hi - I too couldn't get windows to refresh at all unless using F5 so I installed Opus (http://www.gpsoft.com.au) an explorer alternative, then stopped using it as my explorer had returned to normal behaviour :))\
