Were you able to install SP1?

Also your RAM is not on the list that the motherboard supported list.

Hi, thanks, I couldn't manage because I just reformat yesterday (not related case). And my download speed's slow and I worked today.

So the MoBo doesnt support the RAM, is that possible what's causing it? I shouldn't be able to boot up if that's the case isn't it?

When a manufacturer say's that the RAM is supported, as I understand it, it means that they have tested the RAM with the motherboard and found that it works the best with the motherboard.

So you re-installed?

yeah i reinstalled. The ram on g.skill page says it'll work find on z77 boards though. But you're right. I put the ram back at slot #2 today and ran memtest86+ and it ran fine with 14 passes, when i login and half-way typing this reply, i had another bsod. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL code a. Sigh. As attached is minidmp.

Thanks.

Hopefully we can find the cause with Driver Verifier.

(Borrowed from Zigzag3143 posts)
Driver verifier

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise.
Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:

  1. Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
  2. Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
  3. Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
  4. Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Special Pool", "Force Pending I/O Requests" and "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
  5. Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
  6. Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
  7. Select "Finish" on the next page.

  • Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen.
  • Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly.
  • The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.

If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

With those settings in Driver Verifier?
yup, exact same settings, did not choose microsoft drivers, chosen all other drivers. Especially suspicious on nVidia driver but verifier cant proof anything to me.

Should i wait for next nvidia WHQL driver to test it out?

Can you leave Driver Verifier on until you get a crash.

Or you could try an older driver.

I suspect nVidia driver but my card GTX660 has no older drivers. If it has I would happily switch to 304.xx since it served me well on my old build months ago. This new one I just bought has been giving me problems since. Okay, I will leave it on till it has BSOD, then what should i do? also post minidmp?

Okay, I just got another BSOD after verifier.
This is the minidmp. I hope this can lead to something. It says dxgmms1.sys so i'm going to update my driver to latest beta, apparently nvidia had one latest already, will test again with verifier after installing.

Thanks Shintaro.

OK, a couple of things.

You NEED Windows SP1 installed. If you are getting too many crashes, uninstall the video drivers and use VGA to install the SP (Service Pack). It is a pain, but you need the SP installed.

Please uninstall:
RivaTuner/EVGA Precision/MSI Afterburner (known to cause BSOD issues w/Win7)

Once you have completed the above install the latest video drivers from Nvidia.

Please keep us updated.

I had BSOD before I install Afterburner though, so I doubt it's them. But since new driver I've been having a good feeling about it. I'll monitor and in the meantime try to download sp1. thanks for the help so far shintaro.

Update : I swap RAMs to test and apparently the other RAM has no issue at all, no games crashes, no BSODs, no nVidia driver crashes. I RMA-ed the RAM. New one reached today. Will monitor another week. And most probably solved.
I have not install SP1 up till now. Sorry about that. But anyway thanks a lot for helping. It means a lot to me.
