Junk faxes. Can these be stopped?

The printer is immaterial. If you are using 'windows fax and
scan' there is a check box to tick/untick depending on whether
you want printing by default or not. Go to 'tools > fax settings

Is your modem an internal winmodem or a proper external modem? If
the latter you should be able to set the bios to 'wake on lan' so
that if the computer is off and a fax is detected the computer
will turn itself on. Not sure if this works with a winmodem but
it might.

Cheers
Pete
Thanks, I have an external Netcomm USB 56K modem. I have had no luck
finding a better one that will plug into a PCIe slot in the computer.
These are commercial units with all sorts of filtering capabilities,
but they cost the earth moon & stars.

I'm getting several a day and they're using up a lot of paper. Is
there any setting in Windows 7 to filter them out?

Desperate, Peter
Can't you stop them from printing until you've reviewed them? What program
are you using?

Anyone know the details of directing faxes to a flash drive?

Hi Tia,

Are you asking about a specific fax program, or do you want to know
about every fax program in the world of Windows? The workload would be
reduced if you could narrow things down a bit.

What I'm really trying to say is that it appears you're asking about a
function that will vary somewhat from program to program, so it would
be helpful to know what you're working with. It would also be nice to
know that you've checked the manual and perhaps a web forum dedicated
to your specific fax program.
