And with Firefox (which doesn't have a 64 bit version) so I guess that
refers to the Windows version.

I'm pretty sure of it. I mistakenly thought it referred to the

When you have version 9.x installed, yes, but not with version 10.x.

It depends which version you installed.

But I think the 32 bit version is the best choice for most people to avoid
problems with plugins.
Anyway if your browser needs more than 4GB of RAM something pretty nasty is
going on.
