Installed 64-bit W7 with its UE DVD, but can't use a HPE key or downgradeUE to HPE?

Hi!

However, I noticed 64-bit W7 DVD's installer was only for UE (Ultimate
Edition) and didn't ask me to pick what edition to install like in
Vista. I wante to install HPE (Home Premium Edition). I also didn't
enter a key since I haven't bought a copy and wanted to see how 64-bit
W7 was on my old 64-bit PC, and then buy a copy to get its key to
activate it.

Is there a way to downgrade this UE installation to HPE since I want use
a three PC family pack key? Or am I stuck to reinstall with HPE DVD
installer? I know W7 can do upgrade to higher editions, but can it
downgrade?

Well, are you using a retail installation DVD, an OEM DVD, Family Pack
DVD?

64 bits DVDs installation are available in all W7 flavor, and if you get
Retail package, you get both 32 and 64 bits DVDs in the box.

If you want HPE, use a HPE DVD, if you want UE, use a UE DVD; also the keys
only works with a specific version, HPE key for HPE, UE key for UE, OEM or
Retail also has something to do with the validity of the key.

I believe 32-bit in all flavors (save for Enterprise Ed.) comes on one
disk. 64-bit comes on another disk. I don't think 32 and 64 are on one
single disk.

Yes, separate disk for each bit level, that's what I said.

OEM Windows XP Home SP3 (IE6) told me that the DVD's setup.exe was not a
valid Win32 application. I can't boot the computer from any connected
USB drives (including Flash) since it doesn't seem to support USB
drives.

I also tried another old test PC that has an AMD 64-bit single core CPU
(754) with its old XP Pro. SP2 (IE6) and got the same error when trying
to run its setup.exe with its internal PATA/IDE DVD-ROM drive. However,
I was able to boot off its DVD unlike my Dell PC. It did let me run and
install.

So it seems like this DVD is purely 64-bit only and only can use UE? I
thought it would be like Vista's DVD installers with multiple editions.

Well I don't know about the other flavors of Win 7 install DVD's, but I
have a HPE and Pro upgrade set. Here's a link that show's a picture of
a Win 7 Pro Anytime Upgrade DVD:

My Pro upgrade DVD looks similar to this except inside the red box I've
added it says upgrade instead of Windows Anytime Upgrade. Also as you
can see this DVD is clearly marked as a 32-bit, this is true with the
ones I have as well as the 64-bit DVD is marked in the same location.
Now the HPE DVD set is green instead of blue. I would naturally assume
that the Ultimate set is black since that is the color of the box.

Also you'll notice that the edges contain a hologram of the windows and
Microsoft logos, and on the reverse (data) side you can find out where
your DVD set was manufactured.

If your DVD is lacking any of these, then I'd be suspect of it's validity.

look for the info. No luck.

So I looked at the disk labels and used space:

I would have thought you could tell for sure by looking at the DVD or
its packaging.
