To access old MBOX emails inside Apple Mail, you first need to import the MBOX file into the application. I also went through this process when moving my old Mozilla Thunderbird emails, and at first, I wasn’t sure where the messages would appear after import.
You open Apple Mail and go to File > Import Mailboxes, then select the MBOX format option. After choosing your file, Apple Mail imports all the emails into a mailbox called “Import”, which appears in the sidebar. That “Import” folder is where all your old MBOX emails are stored.
From there, you can click the folder and browse all your old messages. If needed, you can move them into your regular mailboxes for better organization and easy access.
This works well, but if the MBOX file is large or contains many folders, it can feel a bit unorganized. In such cases, users often prefer the BLR MBOX Converter Tool to keep folder structure and formatting more neatly during migration.
