I have a PDF file that opens without any problem, but it does not allow me to copy text or select content from the pages. The file is important for office use, and I already have permission to access it. I want to remove only the copy restriction without changing the original formatting, fonts, images, or page layout.

If the PDF opens but does not let you copy text, it usually means the file has copy permission blocked by the owner security settings. First make sure you have the correct owner password or proper permission to change those restrictions.

For a small file, you can check the security settings in a PDF editor and see whether copying is allowed. If the file is restricted, you will need to remove that permission lock before copying text.

For this type of work, PDF Champ PDF Unlocker Tool can be a useful offline option. It lets you choose the copy restriction and save a new unlocked PDF on your Windows system. I prefer offline tools for private files because the PDF does not need to be uploaded anywhere.

Always keep the original PDF safe and work on a copied file first.
