How can I join multiple vCard files into one without messing up contacts?

I have multiple contact backups saved as VCF files. Whenever I join them into a single file, a few contacts seem to be missing or incomplete. Has anyone found a reliable method or tool to merge vCard files while keeping all contact information intact and avoiding duplicates or errors?
