* How to get Hardware Info*

This is just really to help new people get info about their PC:

1. Search for Sisoft Sandra on a search engine download the free version or go to http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/
2. install it with default (leave settings alone) settings

This program tells you almost everything about the innards of your PC without having to open the case.

Apologies if somebody has already mentioned this (I searched the forums and could not find anything)

Hope people find this useful..can this post be made sticky?

Thanks for the heads up Andrew. SiSoft Sandra is a very handy tool indeed :)

Another method to find out basic PC specs without installing any 3rd party software is to run "dxdiag" and then review the main "system" tab. It should contain the OS Type, System Model, Motherboard Details, Processor and RAM. Not too much detail, but enough for the basics :)

Yes I agree Dxdiag is also very useful.

I think Win7 shows far more information than previous versions. When I had Win98 I couldn't find a thing about my PC and then found SiSoft Sandra which gave me too much information (....better having then have not right?).

I only posted this after reading questions like is my graphics card AGP or PCI or on-board or DVI or Dsub and how much memory can my PC take etc etc. Sisoft opens your eyes wide.

Doesn't replace the wealth of information on this forum though :)
