Hallo NG!
I am pretty new to W7. I want to see file extentions (i.e. .txt, .exe ...)
in explorer. What will I have to do? Thanks!

In Windows Explorer: Tools | Folder Options | View. Uncheck: Hide
extensions for known file types.

Do the same thing you did in XP. You might have to hit Alt to see the menus.
Actually, you don't need the menus for this, although it is often nice
to do what you suggest to get them :)

On the bar just above the navigation window is the word "Organize".
Click on it and choose "Folder and search options" from the drop-down
menu, then proceed as in XP.

Thanks Bruce.

I went through that and found that on Win 7 "Hide Extensions for known
file types.(Recommended)" was already unchecked and I never touched this
setting before.

Another fine mess MShaft has got me into :)

Are you sure you got the right one? There are two options right next to
each other:

Hide extensions for known file types
Hide protected operating system files (recommended)

There is no "Hide extensions for known file types (recommended)"
