Did you mean Ctl-click for multiple non-sequential files and SHIFT-click for
a block of sequential files? :)

What I've always liked about multi-select is that you can mix and
match as many Ctrl-Click and Shift-Click operations as you need, all
within the same selection operation.

I've watched people go down a list of files and do a Click +
Shift-Click sequence to select a group of files, then do something
with them such as copy-move-delete, then go back and do the same with
another group of files, and so on, and then they'll go back and use
Ctrl-Click to select some non-contiguous files and do something with
them.

It's quicker and more efficient to use all of the Shift-Click and
Ctrl-Click operations all at once by changing the second and
subsequent Shift-Click operations into Ctrl-Shift-Click operations.
That allows a person to select a block, select some individuals,
select another block, maybe another block farther down, some more
individuals, etc.

Not quite true in Win 7 (maybe Vista as well). There is a way to show
selection check boxes on every line of the file display, and they can
be clicked individually.

I don't do it & I don't remember how to set it up, but I do recall that
it is available. IIRC, this only works like Ctrl-Click, not
Shift-Click.

OK, I just spent 10 seconds to find it. It's in the Folder options,
View pane, near the bottom, "Use check boxes...".

Click the unwanted file. Move hand from mouse to Del key. Move hand back
to mouse, chose another file. Move hand from mouse to Del key....
repeat, repeat, repeat.....
CTRL+click,click,click,click,delete.

If you don't want to use the mouse, "CTRL+Space" to select and
"CTRL+Arrow" to navigate followed by DEL works just fine also.

I prefer the mouse - which probably explains why I didn't know about
those keystrokes :)

There's about a 5% chance that I'll remember them, now that you've told
me (and anyone else who read your post)...

I've had to use some laptops with a virtually worthless touch pad ;-)
