Anti Spyware programs?

P

Pastor Dave

Hey gang,

I have been running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium since Monday, and am
really liking it so far.

Just curious what others think about the necessity for any spyware programs.
I know Windows 7 has Defender, and of course the firewall.
I also use Avast for my virus program.

In previous versions of Windows, I would normally also run say Spybot Search
and Destroy as well.
I am wondering if the additional ones are really necessary now, Win 7 seems
like it is probably pretty secure. Plus I am generally very careful about
websites I visit.

So what do you think?
It's Windows. Get them! :)

I use the following successfully under Win7 x64 (all free):

Avast! (now at 5.0)

Ad-Aware

Simply I use
Microsoft Security Essentials for antiVirus and antiSpyware
And in my personal opinion that's all one needs (if at all),
it's small and not so resourcekilling as many others...

After installing, it will disable Defender as it replaces it
and security essentials has definitions for "spyware" and "viruses".

I prefer not to use MS tools. They have proved themselves
to be less than "worried" about my security in the past and
other utilities have proved themselves to be far better.

I mean no offense to your post. I have just found MS
to be less than stellar when it comes to security. :)
