I've re-coded the solved thread addon so that we've got the same functionality we had on the old forum. Please let me know if you spot any bugs with the new "solved" system as it's currently only in beta

Thread creators should be able to mark their own threads as solved, plus admins/moderators can also mark any thread as solved. Some forums (i.e. article discussion) have the solved thread feature disabled.
