Open-face font in Win7 SP1?

P

Peter Jason

I print to the surface of DVDs in varying font
styles.

For the large type I want to use open-face fonts
to save the expensive ink.

The Win7 collection does not seem to have these,
and I can't go to the Word10 stylized fonts
because I use a separate DVD-printing program.
(AudioLable).

Does Win7 have a library of other fonts online? I
need open face, that is fonts outlined with
nothing in the centers.

Well you can try Ecofont. There is a free version available.
Download free Ecofont Vera Sans regular

This may be more than what you want, but here's two sites with free fonts:

http://1001freefonts.com/
http://www.urbanfonts.com/

Since the fonts are free, and you find one you like but it's not an open
face font, you might be able to load it into a font editor and eliminate
the fill.

You could try googling all day and you will find for free as many fonts as
you want. Sheez!

Thanks, I didn't know they were called "hollow"
fonts.

Sometimes called Outline Fonts too.
Q
By the way, when I type "fonts" into the
"Search Programs and Files" field on the Start
menu I get a display of all the fonts.

Some of these have weird Asian scripts on the
icons, but the underlying fonts are OK.

Why do the labels have the Asian glyphs?

Peter,
A lot of people in this world use MS computers some of us use English. Many
others use all kinds of scripts. You presumably chose English when you set
up your computer. Therefore, when you call up an Asian or other Eastern
script, the computer (which is an idiot) not a person, responds with the
nearest font to English which it has now been programmed to offer. If you
were in Malaya, say and chose to set your computer up in Malay, it would
bring up the Malay scripts when you typed.

I hope this is a correct explanation...

I have just downloaded a heap of fonts including
the open face type.

But, on a similar point, when I go to the Control
Panel and view the fonts installed, some of the
icons are all faint, and some have Asian symbols
but which give normal type on opening - as though
they are not labeled correctly.
