Windows 9 rumored for next year, Windows 10 to be ‘cloud OS’

I'm not surprised ! MS is doing everything possible to totally
control of personal computing.
Then there would be no more personal computers!

What happened to the alleged Winows Black ?
I read it was supposed to be a move from Win 8 that is more
"traditional" in appearance and use.

That's exactly it. The support will be for portable devices (ARM and
the like) which are more like special purpose computing appliances as
opposed to general purpose computers. Little code onboard for local GUI
output and input handling and the real meat of the application from
online services.

I don't like it from a computer enthusiast's viewpoint, but it should
clean up the cesspool of malware that the internet has become just a
little bit by giving clueless users less power to host malware.

Oh, you optimist!

Hackers will find a way to corrupt the cloud computing.

Malware-ridden pirated version of Windows, that's all. Go ahead and install
it, I dare you.

I'm sure of that, but it will help 'just a little bit' if users are
taken out of the loop - that is to say, they can't make as many bad
choices if the aren't given the choices to begin with.

Maybe.

Don't put too much credence into rumors.
It's OK to believe *true* rumors.

:)

Actually, the link says so little about W9 that there's really nothing
to put credence into.

And you will no longer have control of the computer, MS will. Exactly
what the invention/creation of the personal computer was to get away
from. :-(

Not me, them. I don't want an ARM device or a desktop that acts like
one.

Right, but for all of those people that use the computer only as an
appliance - it makes sense to have those 'computers' be special purpose
and not general purpose.

Not once but twice, you reposted my article. Why?

And you screwed up the quoting, too.

You can probably blame the quoting on Windows LIve Mail, which he uses.
From what I see, WLM is a POS.

We have a few left of those at work - WYSE terminals, though I think
that's just the name of the maker. Things that come up with a version of
XP, with a few predefined (by our company) icons - I think from (EEP)ROM
rather than disc. Right pain to use they are.
