As TM correctly noted, your computer barely has the capacity to run just Windows 7 - leaving little to no room for any of your applications - including the essential anti-malware you must install and run to stay safe. Try to install Office or any other of your favorite programs and you will be critically short on free disk space - essential for proper operating system performance.
However, that is all moot if your specific legacy (old) hardware is not compatible with Windows 7 with no updated drivers provided by the hardware makers. So before considering upgrading, you need to run the
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to make sure that legacy system is compatible.
Then consider bumping up the RAM to at least 4Gb.
