It's already there. Click the Start orb and it's the first box at the
bottom of the menu.
I know about that. I'm talking about the right click option in WE that
you can use to search a single folder, etc., as in XP, Win2k, etc., etc.

Seems like that would have limited appeal, but what about the search
box in the upper right corner of the Windows Explorer screen? That
seems to do what you want.

On a related note, I use a utility called Everything for my file
searches, and others have recommended Agent Ransack. Give either of
those a try if the built-in search doesn't meet your needs.

I do use Everything Search. The fact that the folder specific search is
limited to me is its appeal, I have 6 HDD's, may not want the results
from all of them.

Thanks for pointing out the search box on the upper right, still new to
this OS & hadn't noticed that box ;-)

Everything can search specific paths and folder, too.

Coolness.

Coolness.
Try "Index Your Files" http://www.indexyourfiles.com/
works very fast, simple to produce index, hides in systray
works better than Windows search, faster

context menu editors might do it, but require some expertise

Haven't tried "Everything Search" yet.

It should have "search" in context menu
does in my W2K SP$

Found this : how to add search context menu back to W Vista

I'm staying with IYF, spoiled by it.
