W7 doesn't open old win xp help files (*.hlp)

using w7-x64, I can't open any old help files (*.hlp), I have always
the "windows help ans support" page: Why can't I get Help from this
program? , etc.....


I'm really stuck
any help is appreciated

Some time ago MS changed the help file to a new format.
There is or was a downloadable "fix" for the problem.
