My touchpad will not work. The touchpad is a Synaptics PS/2 Touchpad, on a HP Pavilion dv7. Any tips on how to fix it?

Start by going to control panel > device manager and locate it in pointing devices. See if the driver is "working properly" and try to "update the driver," allowing it to scan the web.
If it says you have the latest driver and it is working properly then go to control panel > mouse. Go through the different tabs, starting at the right, and try to find the option to enable the touchpad. Once you enable it then click Apply and OK.
