Safe mode inaccessible

I cannot get into safe mode no matter how hard I try by pressing the F8 key is ther another way around this?? - would appreciate some help

Launch msconfig from "search programs and files" box on the start menu, then check "safe boot" on the boot tab. Hit apply, hit okay, then reboot.

The PC will continue to boot in safe mode until this box is unchecked.

just to let u know I have upgraded IN-PLACE from xp to W7 using laplinks PC mover - for a novice like I followed the instructions to a "T" and all worked the only issue I had was that I had a warning that my H/D was not large enough - butwent ahead any way and may have lost s few drivers in the process - but otherwise this is great little program for $19.95 - every one said it could not be done, but Laplink has proved them wrong - pass it on - I wil lbe back for a few more questions later if I may
