Rollover animations?

I think there should be some sort of rollover animation on the buttons at the top of every page and the posting related buttons (new thread, edit post, quote, etc.). It would make this site look SUPER COOL as opposed to REALLY COOL. Even if each button like changed color or something- it would be super cool.

The problem with rollovers is that they often add to the page size and slow things down a bit. It would be nice if the main menu had some sort of rollover, so I'll have a little look round for a light loading CSS way of doing it and see what it looks like.

edit: I've made the top menu have a brighter hover text colour now to see how that looks
