Roll Over.

I've only recently come across the use of the computer instruction "Roll
over the tab with the mouse". Somehow I can't see that being better than
just "move the pointer over the tab". That's not to say what you should
do with a touch sensitive screen.

Roll over and mouse over are Javascript terms.

A rollover is what happens when nobody wins the lottery, double or triple
jackpot next time.

Rollover, [on]mouseover, and hover [over] are equivalent terms. It's
the event of placing the mouse pointer over an object in a web page.

That has nothing to do with Windows 7, especially since Javascript is
interpreted within the web browser's engine, not by anything in Windows.
Javascript is built into the web browsers, not a library of scripting
functions provided by the OS. This is why there can be differences in
running [java]scripts in different web browsers because they use
different their own different intrepreters.

So just where did you find the "computer instruction" regarding
rollover? Are you just complaining about how some manual regarding the
use of a touchpad happens to string some English words together in
attempting to convey how to use that touchpad? Seems to be the case
since you posted to multiple but UNRELATED newsgroups (alt.usage.english
and alt.windows.7.general). Seems you're here to bitch about something
off-topic to the Windows 7 newsgroup. In that case, just stick with
posting to your favorite newsgroups, alt.usage.english, since this is
NOT an issue with Windows 7.

I agree it's strange. I prefer "mouseover", which is used in some
computer languages. Maybe even better written separately as "mouse
over". This button is auto-highlighted when you mouse over it.
