Question about upgrade from vista to W7

I just bought a new machine today and set it up. I am in the process of
wiping my old laptop to give it to another student. It started out life
as Vista and I upgraded it to W-7 shortly after. When I tried to use the
recovery partition it did not seem to be able to find it so I just used
the recovery disc. So assuming it comes back to life after it’s done
there I will use the upgrade they (Dell) gave me to put it back to W-7
again. The question I have is since it is going to go back to Vista SP1
do I need to take all the Vista updates again then do the upgrade, or
can I just pop the upgrade discs in again and let it do it’s thing?

As long as it's at Vista SP1, you should be able to just run the upgrade DVD
again. If you didn't have to do anything special last time, you shouldn't
have to this time either.

OK thanks, it had been so long I was not sure. I am sure that last time
it must have had whatever updates were available to Vista at that time.
It had been used as Vista for a few months until the update discs
arrived. It seems to have come back to life as Vista again so next will
be the upgrade.
