Performance slow

I am certain that VLC is causing this to happen, but I don't know what
to do about it. I get a balloon that says performance slow switching
to basic theme.

I have an I7. Any ideas how to stop this "error"

"Have you tried changing the video output format under Preferences - Video - Output?

DirectX (DirectDraw) for instance will result in Aero being disabled,
however Direct3D or OpenGL should have no such issues."

No joy with changing the video output method as suggested when you asked
about this before?

I didn't try it before. I don't remember anyone suggesting changing
the video output. I do remember someone pointing to VLC. If I missed
the suggestion, sorry.

That was me, it was the VLC video output method I was referring to, if I
didn't make it clear. You might have to change the settings to advanced
mode to see it.

Well if I don't complain anymore, you will know your suggestion
worked.

Thanks

Would it not be more polite & considerate to go to the enormous effort
of posting a reply stating stating that it worked?

Yes it would. Humor doesn't come off very well on Usenet.

Actually, it often does. In your case, it just took an extra round of
posts :)

Sorry that I missed your implied smiley. I'll Google for tutorials on
subtlety and read the best one. It might help me...

Be careful. If it is a particularly good tutorial, it might well
be an example of subtlety as well, and you, not being as skilled at
recognising it as you might be, might miss it.

I just got the error that windows performance was slow or some such
error. It said to click the balloon for more info. When I clicked
the balloon, a box came up for an instant and closed before I could
read it.

Changing VLC video mode seemed to help, but it didn't stop it. I had
been running Skyrim earlier, but it was not running when I got the
error.
