Oddball problem with Win Word and Open Office Writer

I had a form to fill out and, whenever I place the mouse on the form,a
small rectangle appears on the paper but I can't do anything with it.

This is the same for both programs Win Word and Open Office Writer. I
have never seen this before. I thought that it might be a mouse problem,
but it appears not. I changed the mouse and the results were the same.

Am I hexed?

Are you 100% sure the form is editable? I.e., it might be protected.

You might be hexed, but that is probably not as bad as being octaled...
