No Hibernate menu pick but Hibernate works?

B

Bruce.

This is a new clean install of Windows 7 SP1, current on all available
updates.

Desktop computer.

Hibernate worked just XP before Windows 7 was installed clean (not an
upgrade).

When I select the Shutdown dropdown, there is no Hibernate menu pick.
Sleep is there, but not Hibernate.

I have already tried running:

powercfg.exe /hibernate on

in an Administrator command prompt. It executes without error. No
change to the Shutdown dropdown.

The Control Panel Power settings does not have a Hibernate Enable option
as I have seen others mention. It does have sleep option to Hibernate
after 'n' seconds of Sleep is there and it works. Sleeps for 1 minute
and then automatically Hibernates.

If I search the registry, I find a HibernateEnabled set to 1.

If I execute this command at the command prompt, it Hibernates immediately:

shutdown -h

Hibernate clearly works fine, but I can't seem to enable the menu pick.
Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks.

Bruce.

This should fix it.

That link points to the "powercfg.exe /hibernate on" command which I've
already tried. Still no menu pick.

I also tried the "Fix it for me", and that didn't work either. Still no
Hibernate menu pick.

Any other ideas?

Bruce.
You probably have Hybrid Sleep enabled. Turn it off in Power Options,
Advanced Settings.

I did indeed! It hadn't occurred to me that Hybrid Sleep and Hibernate
might be mutually exclusive.

As soon as I turned off Hybrid Sleep, the Hibernate menu pick appeared!

Thanks so much for your help!

Bruce.
