No audio devices are installed (Fujitsu) and...

Hello,

I searched before asking but none of these solutions helped me.

Three days ago my Fujitsu Siemens Pi 1536 suddenly crashed - the screen went crazy and I pushed my laptop's power button off. Then I turned it on and everything went okay - then I realized I have no audio drivers anymore. No sound, nothing.

http://i33.tinypic.com/11742eb.jpg - 'No audio devices are installed.'

http://i38.tinypic.com/23hlqw5.jpg - Windows can't detect a problem or automatically update.

I tried to reinstall them (Realtek) but this didn't help me. Tried every possible way to make things work. Uninstalled them; reinstalled them; installed them over the old ones; disabled and enabled... Still nothing.

Of course, after that I decided to reinstall my Windows 7 (clean install). I never had problems with installations until now. I boot from DVD and it loads the files, but then black screen comes with a cursor and restarts after 3 seconds. So it's kinda a restart loop. Burned Win 7 on five different DVDs - none of them work! It's the black screen with cursor over and over again.

Anyways, I finally succeeded to reinstall my laptop (clean install) and now I'm using Windows XP. After that I also installed all of my drivers and the only problem continues to be the audio.

http://i36.tinypic.com/8w04f8.jpg - In Device Manager there's no Realtek option.

So I still can use my laptop but there is no sound. I'm stuck and I'm going mad now. What the ... happened with my Fujitsu??? Is it a virus? Is my sound gone forever?

Anybody has a solution? I'd be sooo thankful!

Just tell me if you need more info about my laptop:

I have Fujitsu Siemens Pi 1536
Processor Intel (R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66 GHz 167 GHz
RAM 2.00 GB
32-bit Operating System

Welcome to the forums Gombeto :).

Do any unknown devices show up in Device Manager? If you've performed clean installs and the sound card is still not detected then there is the possibility of a deeper fault.

Can you enter the BIOS on your laptop and see if the onboard audio chipset is mentioned in there and if it is set to "enabled".

Well, hope this won't sound lame but I really don't know where to see if onboard audio chipset is enabled.

http://img828.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=1006470.jpg - I made images of all the menus in my BIOS.

Maybe my BIOS is too old? I never updated it or flashed it. I found some drivers on the Fujitsu website but I'm scared to flash my BIOS... Is there any instructions and is it possible that this would help?

Update: There are no unknown devices in Device Manager.

Normally the option to disable the sound card would appear on the "advanced" screen, but it doesn't appear on those screenshots. However, I just noticed the "legacy audio drivers" in one of your first screenshots, so it looks like it is detected - just not working correctly.

Can you remove all of the sound/video/media codecs from under that brance in Device Manager and then try to install these drivers:

Out of interest, how did you install Windows 7 on the laptop initially? If you have W7, I would try to get audio working on that rather than persisting with XP. :)

Oh, I don't know why did I do this! :) I tried for 4 days to fix this on Win 7 and it didn't work. I tried to reinstall my operating system but none of the Win 7 DVDs worked so I made an installaton with the only CD that worked - my old Win XP CD.

Anyways, I was able only to uninstall the Audio Legacy from Device Mngr and then installed the drivers you sent me. Now Legacy Audio is missing and the rest of these http://i36.tinypic.com/8w04f8.jpg are still there.

Can't believe this is happening to my laptop. The irony here is I'm creating music. And I'm unable to make new tracks for days now so this is a sign or something :) LOL

So I successfully made a BIOS flash update and still no sound :(

At least my laptop is still ALIVE. But I won't give up.
