microsoft games not working

I have a new dell pc that was preinstalled with w7. I've had it for a week now, and today the games have decided not to run. I get 'executable for .... game as stopped."

Anyone know how to fix this?

Any help is much appreciated.

As your games were working have you installed any new software prior to your games not working ?

i downloaded firefox and mirc from the net. other than that, i haven't added anything else.

mirc is a chat client and may be your problem, you could uninstall it and just see if your games will work, if they don't we can go another route.

hmm, just uninstalled mirc and restarted windows. seems to work. i'm going to check one other program i had an issue with.

and that one works too. thanks for the help. guess i'm going to use another chat client, like icechat.
