My laptop installed windows updates and restarted as usual.However after restarting it created for me a new user profile which was a temporary profile. My attempts to reboot didn't change this. I could access my previous administrator profile but as an outside user.My IT guy then tried to do a system restore to see if this would revert the situation back to normal, however after this, I lost all the files in my previous admin profile. Why did this happen and is there any way to retrieve it other than the long and arduous data retrieval methods that are being suggested to me.

The first thing that jumps out at me is a bug in your system of some sort. A virus, malware, spyware, adware, trojan and or worm of some kind. I would run your anti virus software and then run any malware, spyware software and run full scans.
