Live Mail images have disappeared

I have not changed any settings and images are no longer displayed in any emails. I checked Options/Safety/Security and both boxes under download images are unchecked. Why are images now not being displayed and how do I get them back?

Speculation only....
1. Do you use Norton or McAfee as your anti-virus program ? If yes, consider switching to something less obtrusive.
2. Most anti-virus programs have email scan feature. Disable that option.
I have Avast and I have disabled email scanning.
