In Win XP all my mail items came up when I pressed the" letter "icon on the menu bar.

When I press the same icon in Win 7(64bit) I get the following warning - "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed"

Can anyone please let me know which is the "default mail client" in Win 7,and how do I install it as I find having to go through my ISP mail system rather tedious.

Cheers.

Hi raffles, have you alreay got a mail client installed (such as Windows Live Mail, Outlook or Thunderbird)?

If not, you can download WLMail from here : http://download.live.com/wlmail

If you have a mail client already installed, just type "set your default programs" in to the start menu and click the result. This will allow you to make a mail applicaiton default. :)

Windows 7 no longer has a default email client. Like in Vista, it was Windows Mail and in XP it was Outlook Express. MS in it's infinite wisdom decided to do away with that and a few others like windows photo gallery and windows movie maker in this version of windows. They want you to use Windows Live Essentials, it's a nice little bundle pack. Here's the link.

Many thanks ian and bassfisher, - followed your advice and "letter" icon brings my mail in nicely now.

All the best.
