Invisible files

Hi,

Files that I copy to the Desktop and library folders aren't visible in
the Windows Open File dialog box. If I move the files to c:\ (for
example), they become visible in the dialog box.

You'll have to give us more to go on than that.

Libraries may be full of magic and mystery, but Desktop is pretty
straightforward. Either you didn't really copy the file there, or
it's not the right type for the program that you're trying to use to
open it.

For w/e reason, sometimes Win7 stops updating the folders (and Desktop
is a folder) after a change.

Try Right-Click -> Refresh and see if that shows your changes.

Good idea. BTW, the F5 key also does a refresh in Windows Explorer
as well as many application programs such as Filezilla.

The problem doesn't occur when the files are copied to c:\ (from the
Desktop!), so it's not related to file types. "*.*" doesn't make any
difference.

It's not a new problem, and it always happens on the same computer.
Files copied to the Desktop don't show up in the Open File dialog box.
In addition, when a program allows the user to open files by dropping
them on its window, it works on all computers except on that one: files
copied to the Desktop can't be dropped.
