Installing W7 on freshdisk

I had a perfectly-functioning XP Pro machine. Wanted to replace the C: drive, so I bought a new HD. Planned to reassemble with the new (unformatted) HD as the C: drive and boot off the W7 CD. Install hangs at the "Press any key to boot" message. Any help most welcome!

Have you disconnected the old drive? If not you should do so.

Edit: Another question, what flavor of W7 do you have? Upgrade Disk? Tell us a little more please?

Go to BIOS and set your optical drive as your first boot device, and your NEW hard drive as the second.
